Student Feedback for UNL Masterclass

As part of the residency of Jody Sperling and Time Lapse Dance in Lincoln, Nebraska, The Lied Center created a survey for the participants of the Master Class led by Jody Sperling. Out of 26 respondents, it was found that 100% felt that this Master Class was a meaningful experience. Below is a summary of survey responses.

What made this experience meaningful?

“It was such a great experience to actually have a class on the affects of our dancing on the universe and how we work with our surrounding atmosphere.”

“You got to feel one with the elements that Jody was talking about. It took dance to a different level.”

“I loved the way she explained the way we use space as dancers- her use of the scarves was beautiful.”

“I learned a lot of new things. I really enjoyed the air flow movements. Would love to do it again.”

“It was a much more organic experience in dance than I have had lately. It was very ‘centering’ and peaceful.”

What did you learn from the workshop?

“Thinking about dance in yet another way, using out bodies to create movement in our atmosphere.”

“I learned different ways to move the fabric and tricks so that it didn’t get caught on itself or me.”

“Fluidity- Make everything smooth and it will look beautiful.”

“How difficult/beautiful moving of fabric can be.”

“I learned about new techniques that built on and expanded on what Susan has taught me about modern dance.”
